Within the printing industry, paper waste is an unavoidable reality. In order to print all the way to the edge of a page without leaving a border, we have to generate some paper waste. However, we take our responsibility to recycle this waste very seriously. We ensure that all our paper waste is recycled responsibly and do our best to recycle or reprocess all our other types of waste. To help us with this, we separate all our waste into 17 different streams. This helps us to make sure that as much waste as possible is recycled or repurposed, instead of ending up in landfill. Our commitment to recycling and reducing waste is just one of the ways we are working to be a more sustainable and eco-friendly company.
Ink is a vital component of any printing process, and the quality of the ink can have a dramatic effect on the final product. Here at Printed Design, we only use the highest quality inks, which are vegetable-based and sourced from large drums. This allows us to avoid using smaller cartridges, which are bad for the environment and also increase output waste. In addition, our vegetable-based inks provide superior color reproduction and consistency, making them ideal for any printing project. So whether you need business cards or banners, you can rest assured that we will produce a high-quality product that looks great and is also good for the environment.
At our printing facility, we use high-quality printing plates to transfer your artwork onto materials. After each job, these plates are recycled, and the chemicals used to create them are responsibly disposed. This ensures that your project is not only printed to the highest standards but also that it has a minimal impact on the environment. We take pride in our responsibility to recycle and dispose of all materials in a way that does not harm the planet. With our printing services, you can rest assured that your project will be both beautiful and eco-friendly.
Our eco-friendly, 100% recyclable, and biodegradable film is a great way to make your prints last longer! Unlike traditional lamination that can leave behind contaminants when you're done using it, our biodegradable laminate composts within two years.
The biodegradable lamination we apply to all our matt and gloss lamination prints looks and feels like traditional lamination but isn't as harmful to the environment which is one step we take to ensure our impact on the environment is reduced.
All matt laminated, gloss laminated, or spot UV products use our eco-friendly biodegradable laminate this includes our best-selling business cards, flyers, postcards, greeting cards, scratch cards, folders, and booklet covers.
The biodegradable lamination that we use is just as tough and long-lasting as the standard lamination used by most businesses. The only difference is that the biodegradable lamination will start to degrade after being in landfill conditions for two years, while the standard lamination will not. So if you're looking for print that will last long and won't harm the environment, our biodegradable lamination is the perfect choice.
The laminate film undergoes a 2-stage degradation process at end of life.
The degradation process of biodegradable lamination is initiated by the pro-degradation additive, which starts the process of oxidation. This stage is carried out through the interaction of oxygen, ultra-violet light, and/or heat.
This then leads to the bio-degradation of the film, where the polymeric chains are broken down into smaller molecules that can be processed by naturally occurring micro-organisms present in nature. The rate of degradation depends on a number of factors such as temperature, oxygen levels, and light intensity. An added bonus is that no methane is produced as a bi-product during the degradation process.
